My 2 day old chick (b. australorp) which arrived today, looks like she's having seizures. She twitches and falls onto her back. This started about an hour ago but has steadily increased to every 5 minutes.

I've seperated her into her own box but within the brooder for the heat. She has her own water and food and as much light as will get through the holes in the box.
As far as I know none of the other chicks hurt her in any way and she has the same bedding, feed, water, heat and light that the other chicks do and none of them are showing the same symptoms.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

If you have any Polyvisol or liquid baby vitamins give it three drops three times daily. She may be already too far gone. Our first flock this happened to a chick and we lost it fairly quickly before we knew what to do. Good luck. Let us know what happens.

Try a little Karo syrup or honey dribbled into her mouth, and hope it's low blood sugar...

...at least that would be my answer if it were a puppy or a kitten...

The water she was drinking had sugar added to it like it suggests in the mcmurray catalog.. I have pedialite but I don't think I have liquid vitamins...
