I was candling my eggs and dropped one on the other. Both are cracked now. no leakage, no blood.. but one is due to hatch on the 24 and the other on the 31st. both have embryos in them. Are they still ok? i did candle again and both were moving but, i was wondering if i have to do anything to seal them back up or should they be fine? I am so angry with myself.

Thanks for any help!

ETA title change. and we are starting to hatch. one is out.. and the one that was cracked is now.... pipped! YaY ... thanks to all who helped me:)

I accidentally dropped a button quail egg when I was taking it out of the turner 3 days before it was to hatch. It got a slight crack in it. And the crack started to bleed. I couldnt stand the thought of throwing it out and the baby still be alive. So I just dusted the crack with flour to try to stop the bleeding. Only thing I could think of doing. And put it back in the bator. To my surprise. It actually hatched. I wouldnt give up on it..

Melt candle wax over the crack ASAP! I did that and hatched a healthy baby! Use unscented if you can.

Here's mine, LOL.

What happens if you use scented? Also where do you buy candle wax? Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Walmart?

If the eggs aren't leaking, you can also try some fingernail polish or acrylic, the kind they use in filling in false fingernails.

Wow! What a great idea to use candle wax!!! And Elmer's glue is a good idea too. Jessi and I cracked an egg (I think it was an EE) while we were candling and it hatched just fine! Although it didn't leak any. I don't like to give up on them either! We give every egg a fighting chance! Don't be angry with yourself! Accidents happen!

I don't know that Scented would be bad, It just sonds like a better idea to use unscented. I just used a Candle I had that was shaped like a Surfboard, any candle will work.

I have used Superglue successfully in the past, we actually have a hen named Superglue in honor of my first attempt!
