This afternoon, I went outside to check on my broody hen and noticed that an egg was pushed out of the nest. When I picked it up, it felt completely hollow. I candled the egg and it was completely rotten. I decided to take all of the eggs out to make sure that they were still alive, and accidentally dropped one of the eggs on a another, cracking the shell. I candled it and it was moving, but then the air sac seemed to dissipate and I couldn’t see anything. I put scotch tape on the crack and put it back under the hen. Was that the right thing to do? Is there any hope that the egg might hatch?

I am incubating eggs in an incubator on my kitchen table. On the fourteenth day when I was candling I dropped one, it had several cracks but the membrane was not broken so I dripped wax on the crack, when hatching day came I didn't want its beak stuck in the wax so I took the wax off and put a piece of tape there instead unfortunately it died of other causes on the 18th. I think you did the right thing I hope it hatches!:fl:)

If it makes you feel any better at all, I dropped an egg while candling this past week. It was the final candle before lockdown and I was so upset.
The only thing I could find on the internet was super glue so I did... It hatched yesterday into a healthy fluffy blue maran. ;)
