i cracked open a chicken egg at 23 days to see if i needed to throw the eggs out .. to my disapointment for killing a chick i found a live chick looked to be fully developed so ive decided to wait because i fingure if 1 was alive the other are too. but my question is the yolk of the egg was still attached and pretty good size so is that normal or is there still a few days left of growth this is my first time every doing this..i'm hearing chirping really good today on the 24th day of incubation....

Did you have other chicks hatch or did none hatch and all are late??

My first hatch did not start pipping until Day 23, I think cuz i opened the bator frequently to turn eggs. I would leave the rest for sure and see what happens.

I would leave them as well. If your thermometer is off a bit they could take longer to hatch. The chick absorbs the rest of the yolk before it hatches so it can survive several days after hatching without food.

What were the temps during incubation?? Did you have an auto turner or did you have to do it yourself??

If you hear chirping that is a very good sign!! I bet you will have babies in no time

the temp is at 100.5 pretty steady and it has a auto turner i'm so excited cant wait its been 24 days i was really worried till i heard the chirping today i'm just not sure on the days left after i saw the yolk yesterday

lockdown is very important!!!
i was having simular problems, researched it.
found out that i was not obeying the lock down rules!

this time i made sure i did the lock down,
things are going much better now!
7 hatched today already!

lock down is that where you put them on the non turning create..i did that on the 19 day i found that out a little late this is my first time

so i should have chicks like tonight or later if i hear chirping is that safe to say... i want to see the babysso bad

Yes, you should have babies soon! Let them chirp and then they will rest, absorbing the yolk so it may seem quiet for a bit. I look in and see a little chip of egg and then a couple of hours later they are out.

Have Fun!
