Joe-sorry the fencing I'm thinking of is perhaps 2" X 4". Looking at Ivan's picture it also looks larger than 1" x 2".
I would still use hardware cloth at the bottem and for the skirt. My barn cat caught a Weasel just last week. Would'nt believe how small that varmint is and it can kill a full size chicken.
I used all hardware cloth but I'm gone all day and my girls (and Roo) are my pets.
