Hi guys, I have a 5ish month old hen who's having crop trouble. Last night I noticed her crop looked full but thought nothing of it until this morning when it was still full! It felt full of sand and rocks this morning but not hard at all. I gave her a massage and put her in her own pen with electrolyte water and gave her about 2ml of Olive oil. Now about 4 hours later her crop still feels full and now is harder. Like when you squeeze it it leaves indents where your fingers were. I gave her a tiny bit off food (boiled egg with maybe a half teaspoon of pumpkin puree on top) it was only a little bit, she just seems so hungry I couldn't not feed her. What else can I do??!

@CCsGarden
You were so helpful with curing my roosters sour crop (he's back to normal) do you have any advice?

Sounds like impacted crop. I would keep giving the oil ( I like coconut) about 10mls every hour. The sand/ rocks could be causing a blockage. Do you think you could make her vomit? Have they eaten any trash or big pieces of things?

I'm so very sorry you are going through this!

Before making her vomit, get her crop more soft by giving around 20mls of epsom salt water. Then massage the crop.

I thought so too! I actually misread the syringe and didn't give her that much. I just brought her in and have her another ml of oil. She also ate some coconut oil chunks. I don't think she'll vomit, it's pretty hard and from the articles I've read you're only supposed to do that for sour crop?? No, she hasn't eaten anything large or different, it just feels like sand😬.

Thank you! I appreciate all your help😁

Oh man, 20ml? I had a time just getting 1ml into her😂. I'll do my best!

Yes, I've made them vomit for impacted but it is harder to do.

Yeah, I do about 20. Maybe get around 5mls in her then give her a break and do another. At least try 10🥰

Oh okay! A video might be helpful then, I didn't know that😊. Okay, I'll try! Thank you! How much epsom salt to water you think?
