Hi,
Last night as day 21 started, I had 6 pips and chirping. When I awoke this morning, no hatched chicks and no chirps.
By lunch, 3 had hatched, but only 2 from last nights pips. So, I have 4 that pipped last night and no further action.
Should I continue to sit on my hands and not open the bator or go in and open some of the pipped eggs?

Or should I go out to dinner and a movie and stay away from the hatchery?! thanks

Oh yeah, humidity has been at 65% since the first chicked hatch, before it was at 56%. I am using a Genesis.
Also, One of the chicks is panting. Is it thirsty?

I would turn down the temp in the bator to 95 to prevent further panting. I usually don't intervene unless it's been over 24 hours from pip with no progress. Let us know how it goes!

Are you sure the chick is panting and not just peeping? You're temp. sounds good so I don't think it's overheating and turning down the temp. too much could make it hard for the rest to hatch. I had several that took 24 hours from pip to hatch and a few that went from nothing to completely zipped in only 1/2 an hour. There is a huge range of normal so keep sitting on your hands and try not to worry.

ETA: Ooops, you didn't put down what your temp. is, but if you're hatching on day 21 and not early it's probably right on.

LOL, I was just doing a really careful re-read to find where I had missed the temp!

It's true, that chick may be to noisy, frantic one, there's usually at least one in every hatch.

Dinner and a movie, scrub the kitchen again, stay on BYC, but don't worry!

thank you for the prompt replys!

The temperature is at 100. I have to change and up the temp from 96 to 100 with dopey "sliders" in the Gensuis. I did that during the 19th day, during a 6 hpour period. The bator hasn't been open since.

since my post, one the pips hatched and another one is zipping. I shpould be more patient!

I do have another hatch to start this weekend, but I have a hen so broody, she just rolls around on the ground after I get her egg from the box. She doesn't bite, but growls like a dog and wants top be a mommy. If it keeps up tomorrow, I'm going to give her 6 eggs.
