I'm new at this hatching thing. I have forty mag pie duck eggs in the incubator. I switched the eggs today to my lock down incubator and thought that the eggs would raise the humidity to an acceptable level. The humidity is dropping into the 50% - 60% range. I have all bottom reseviors full and three small containers of water sitting in incubator and six humidity pouches. I have misted the eggs twice with water in an attempt to get it up to 70%, but it keeps falling. I have seven eggs already that have small cracks - I can't see any bills yet, but I hear peeping. I am so excited! Should I mist eggs and how often? The 50% humidity isn't high enough is it? When I mist the humidity will go up to around 64%, but starts falling within half hour. I've got them this far - I just don't want to mess them up.

I wouldn't mess with the humdity now, just let them be and when they start hatching humdity should go up a little naturaly from them being wet and the goo in the eggs coming out,

Thanks for the advice. I have them in a incubator that circulates the air. The other two incubators I have been using were still air and the humidity levels were better in them. This is my first experience with one that has a fan. I borrowed it from a friend for lockdown - probably should have used a still air. The fan is sucking the humidity right out of the icubator. I'm worried about shrink wrapped babies. I've read that can be problem if the humidity isn't kept high enough.
