This is my first time incubating eggs. I checked the progression all the way up until day 18, there was always movement. At day 21 our power went out. It was to be out for HOURS. After a little while of not knowing what to do, I decided to put the eggs under my broody hen. She accepted them and seems to be adamant on hatching them. It is now day 26, I just candled them. I saw no movement. The air pocket is large. Idk what that means. I did the egg floating test and the 3 eggs seem to have all passed being that they are mostly floating just on top of the water but not too much. I gave them back to the hen, she seemed relieved to have them back. What should I do??? Should I open them up? Are they dead? Is there a chance? I havent seen any movement. Maybe they died when the power went out? They were out of the heat for maybe 30 minutes. And probably another 30 minutes while I just did that floating test and candling.

I would keep them under your broody for a couple more days. Maybe the incubator temp was off. An hour total without incubation should be okay. I have never done the float test so I don’t have any advice about your results. Hoping for the best! :fl

The two eggs under my broody didn't hatch on day 21 so i left them until day 25 then I finally candles them and it looked like they died half way through
I took them out from under her and started waking one exploded in my hand the other one I threw where I put old hay it exploded in mid air

when you did the float test floating isn't what you're looking for. were they bobbing/moving around on their own at all?

are these chicken eggs or duck? an hour with no heat shouldn't cause problems. might make them a little late.
