Help!!! Day old chick has had shell stuck to vent

It is attached to the navel, not the vent. And don't worry, I thought one of my chicks hatched with the yolk sac but it turned out the chick hatched so hard, it pulled the poop-sac out of the egg with it, cord and all. XD

It should dry up and drop off on their own, but you could try carefully washing them off too with a warm damp cloth or tissue.

Help again! The new chick has just hatched and the one we have been discussing is pecking it, i cant open the incubator yet as another egg has now pipped! What do i do! ?

My little ones often pecked one-another and at each-others toes, they grow out of it. At that age everything is tested as food via light pecks. As long as the older chick isn't causing visible damage or pulling off fluff, they should be fine.

Ok, i spoke too soon! They have pipped but still nothing!
Now, chick 1 has been in incubator for 36 hours, miney because of his bath and needing to dry off, by the time he was dry an egg has pipped so didnt want to open it, by the time that egg had hatched another had pipped! I did put a small bowl of chick crumb in there the day they hatched just in case, but now in a dilema as to when i can and should get him out?

For me...I would have everything in the brooder ready and I'd carefully take him out and shut the incubator. Your humidity should bounce back fairly quickly.

I have one chick pipping right now...and it's not important enough to open the incubator to candle the other eggs. But, when the chick is ready to come out...I'll take him out.

Ok so maybe i should make sure the humidity is hitting 70 and quickly get it out so as if it drop sliggtly it will still be at a good level, and i will have some warm water ready to bump it up quick just in case?

Ok, i have done it, still no moment in the other pipped egg, its a large pip and i cant see it morning inside.. Normal? Or could i have lost it?

Sometimes things go fine. Sometimes the membranes can dry out too much if they stop making progress and it's a larger zip. I should have taken a pic (never thought) of the chick I have in the incubator. He zipped most of the way last night, and this morning the zip was the same...but his fluff was sticking out of the zip. So that's usually a sign a piece of membrane has stuck to the chick and he can't progress or something else is going on. In this chick's case he was slightly malpresented and his head was down. I pulled the shell apart in two halves. The chick was not stuck...yet. But he was ready to come out.
It was about 22 hours since the first pip yesterday.

I have mine at 70% because I don't know the dates for hatching with this group of eggs. It seems like they dry out a bit quicker this time being small eggs. Normally I keep it about 65% for hatching.

With your case, the chick would need to eat soon...so taking him out was a necessity. I would watch the egg with the pip. Some say to wait 24 hours since they can take a while to fully zip. Personally, I play it by ear. I prefer not to assist because I find if a chick can't make it out on it's own...it is usually a weak chick that won't make it anyways.

BUT...sometimes the chick's not in the correct position but still fine. And sometimes they rest and then pip within a few minutes. I had another one that pipped when I took the one out this morning. He's already zipped out and is running around...lol.
