help..despur issues...wont stop bleeding!

Instant glue was the only thing that stopped the bleeding when I removed one roosters spurs a couple of years ago (twisted off)--I even went to the vet's and got some of their super-duper quik-stop and it didn't work. My son came by and asked what I was doing, then told me to use instant glue--he said it hurts like %#@#%$^&, but works immediately.

DE also works--better than flour or cornstarch, but not as good as the glue.

I used the hot potato method as well and they came off no problem at all... I am thinking it has to be b/c he is so young. I would not have even done it accept he turned mean and started hurting people. His spurs where sharp overnight it seemed. They weren't very long just sharp, Maybe also, he is a cohin, his feet are always red from growing feathers on his feet. I haven't taken the bandages off and prob. wont for a while. Thanks everyone!

My show bird did this two weeks ago. I had to take him to the vet and use silver nitrate stick. This stopped the bleeding on one side but not the other. We had to make a compression bandage with gauze and sticky vet wrap. I left the bandage on for four days before removing.

By the way I have renamed him "Hemo". I will not remove his spurs again.
