in June my family and I decided to buy some duck eggs from Waitrose and put them under our broody hen. She had been broody for a very long time so we decided we would try her out sitting on some eggs. A month later, Chandler and Flappers hatched! (Flappers: dark, Chandler: lighter) they are doing very well and are thriving in their home. We recently built a pond for them to swim in.
we have one problem, though. We are struggling to find out the gender and breed of these ducks! I have a feeling they might both be males, due to the sound of their quack. one of our neighbours who has raised ducks for quite a while thinks that flappers is a girl and Chandler is a boy. Our other neighbour, who owns lots of different chickens, thinks they are both females since the ends of their tails are not curling up.
Can anyone help us accurately sex and gender these ducks?
