Help: Do I have a crowing pullet or a rooster? I can't have roosters in the city.

Dear Backyard Chickens folks,

I got this supposedly 5month old Cuckoo Marans pullet that is displaying weird signs that she is a he.

1. S/he tries to mount my laying hen
2. S/he trys to crow in the morning. 3-4 times every morning around 5am for a 4 days now. Not as loud as a real rooster crow but it's not a normal hen's noise for sure. I think my neighbors are going be be mad soon.
3. S/he's got very red crowns

What do you think? Should I exchange this impostor or give it some more time? And if this is indeed a hen who crows in the morning, is there anything I can do to stop her from crowing? Where I live no rooster is allow. I think that a hen that crows in the morning is a NO-NO also.

If I do make an exchange with the breeder, they will give me a very young chick.... I'd have to wait all over again... That also mean I might have to get 2 chicks for companion... problems......

Many thanks for anyone who can give me some insight to this problem.

rowing at 5am?

Cockerel. I think I see some saddle feathers coming in, and I think he is younger than 5 months

Thanks folks. Now that I know for sure this is a young rooster, I contacted the seller and she's willing to switch him with a year old Light Brahma Hen... It is strange though this young rooster hasn't crow for the pass 2 days... I keep wanting it to be a hen.... I guess it's really wishful thinking
