!HELP! Does anybody know what’s going on with this chick?

Chicks gulp as they absorb the remains of the egg yolk and blood running through the veins of the membrane. Having pipped at the wrong end your chick may sit at this stage for up to 48 hours before unzipping. It's important to let it go through the process. Having opened the egg up more the membrane is at risk of drying out so keep a close eye on it and use a q-tip to apply coconut oil (or any cooking oil at a pinch) if it starts to look yellow or brown. If the membrane dries out too much it will contract and suffocate the chick. Depending on how much you have opened up the egg you may have to assist it to hatch once it is ready. Unfortunately I can't see your photo (my internet connection is slow at the moment).

Thank you so much for your advice, I’ll try and make sure to keep the membrane from drying up and keep an eye on the chick. This is the first time I’ve ever had a chick pip on the wrong side of the egg so I think I’m freaking out a little more then I should be.:th

I had that recently for the first time as well and I hovered over the incubator, and even got up at 1am to check on it. She almost made it all the way out by herself but did get stuck right at the end so keep an eye on your chick. :fl
