HELP does my baby girl have Marek's?

Thanks, I think I have been giving her too much vitamin B. I have been dissolving one tablet in about 1-2 tablespoons of water, then mixing that with her food daily. I will get done vitamin E. If it is a vitamin issue how long will it take her to recover?

Put the B vitamins in her water so she gets a steady dose all day as she drinks. The B vitamins are water soluble, this means they don't stay in the body for very long. Look, this is what I would do and have done....1 Super B Complex vitamin, crushed and dissolved in 1 gallon of water every time you fill it. Vitamin E 400 iu, once a day. Pop the capsule with a pin or whatever and drip it onto her feed once a day. E is fat soluble so doesn't leave the body as quickly as the Bs. The way you have been giving the Bs isn't working because they leave the body quickly, and putting it on her feed is a one time shot. She needs a continuous in take to do anything. Another thing you could try is this...a drizzle of clover honey over her feed with the E. Once a day. The honey is loaded with the Bs and also trace elements and will make the feed much more interesting to her. That, with the doctored water should start showing some improvement within a week. The tippy-toe walk is because her ligaments and muscles have started to atrophy and it might hurt to try to walk. Patience, if I am right, the vitamins will help her soon, but it won't be overnight. She has to build up the stores in her body first so the nerves and muscles start working together again.

If this does turn out to be something else, you are out nothing but time. If it is Marek's or something like it, the vitamins are only going to help as well. I have Marek's here and have not seen the tippy-toe with any of them, I have seen it in a bird that wasn't getting the proper intake because she was low man on the totem pole and usually driven away from the feeder. It took me 2 weeks to get her moving better and 3 to be 'cured'.

Thanks, I just added the vitamins to her water. I gave her some sunflowers which are high in vitamin E until I can get some tomorrow. I really appreciate all your help!

We had to put Cali down today. She would cry like she was in pain when she tried to sit up. She got to a point the she would just lay on her side. We could bare to see her in pain. My nine year old son who picked her out did not take the news that she passed to well. I am so glad we sent he out and didn't tell him anything except that she didn't make it.

Stacie, I can't tell you how sorry I am that it ended this way. It's awful! I have to ask if you are getting a necropsy done on her so you will know what it was that took her.

I'm sorry for your boy as well. That's a hard lesson to have to learn at that age. Cripes... I still cry for every one I lose. Age doesn't matter, the heart does. Please give him a hug from me, if he'll allow it and let him know how very sorry I really am.

Thanks, I am going to call the local vet tomorrow and see if they can tell us of a place to take her. I really do not think it was Meraks since none of the other chick are getting sick. I also contacted to store where we bought her and they have not heard of sny of the other chicks getting sick. My son is starting to feel better, he already asked if we can get two more chicks.

I don't think it was either but sometimes it's good to put things to rest and a necropsy would do that. I am glad your son is wrapping his head around this. Oh to be that young again! Lol! One stipulation for that...I have to know what I know now!
