My Orpington "Blondie" flew over the fence onto the neighbor's yard while their dogs were out. She survived but has a few deep cuts. I'm bathing her to keep them clean. She's currently in the house in a dog crate to protect against the others from pecking at her. She's eating and drinking, but seems depressed. Her wounds are horrible to look at and I don't know what to do.

I can't afford to drive her a couple of hours to a vet that will see her plus the emergency fees. She's part pet, but at the same time she's livestock.

I've put a Cochin pullet in with get so she isn't lonely and they are getting along.

Any suggestions our advice would be great.

I'm so sorry to hear of the accident! But, I'm glad Blonde is eating, drinking and has a buddy. I would (if possible) give her calming herbs like lavender, bee balm, thyme, basil etc. These will help relax and soothe her. I would put unpasteurized, organic apple cider vinegar in her water to boost her immunity. I would also put garlic in her food to make sure she doesn't catch a cold. And, I would put coconut oil and/or Vaseline on her wounds.

Hope she gets better soon!;)

Awe poor baby! I am so sorry to hear that! I think I would try what Mountain Peeps suggested, maybe add some electrolytes, I hope she heals up soon.

An update on Blondie...

She's still got a few bald spots, but the chicken saddle is hiding those. She's happy, healthy and laying again. It took about 6 weeks for her to heal up, but then again, she did have some major injuries.
