Help! Dog Attacks Hen ( Graphic Photos )

I used peroxide on a injured rabbit years ago. A pretty deep wound and the poor rabbit screamed bloody murder. I wouldn't use peroxide.
I would use warm water to clean. Then an antibiotic or iodine. I would not use iodine daily though. It can keep the wound from closing.
I have never treated a chicken but the info is from years with a small animal vet and what we do for tortoises.

wash your hands and try to put gloves on if possible.

If you have cotton balls put hydrogen peroxide on that and carefully wipe the wound. It may be easier if you cut the surrounding feathers off to access the wound easier. Then you will want to gently rub on neosporin.

Is the bird indoors or outside?
Is it moving or walking around?
Is it showing sights of shock?
Can you go to a local feed store and pick up some items?
Is it eating or drinking?

If you can answer these questions i can help more and recommend certain things to help.

I don't know if I have cotton balls.
The bird is currently indoors, but she is now aloud to say inside, but she can't stay. Probably too loud for her anyways.
She has been walking around, and she has even tried to preen.
As far as shock, I don't think she is. She's also a very calm hen.
I'm not able go to the local feed store .
She has drank some water, I haven't fed her anything, yet.

Peroxide should be avoided since it can prevent healing. If that is all you have, use it only once, then get one of the things listed in post 2. Vetericyn from feed stores is easy to spray on, but betadine may be less expensive. Neosporin is fine, but you may need to pick up more.
My mother had said the same thing. To only use it once, because she was at a plastic surgeon for an injury on her hand who said that peroxide can eat the skin cells.

If you don’t have cotton balls find something soft to use.
Do you have a warm garage she can stay in make sure you can check on her easy. Do not put her back with the other birds yet though. That is good she is up and moving around. Glad she is not in shock. Well you may want to get a chicken saddle pick no more feather cover upper lotion and vetericyn. Glad she is drinking try to offer food if she doesn’t eat make a mush with water and food or fry an egg for her.

I do not have a garage, but I do have an out building that she likes alot. I can put a dog kennel in there so she doesn't try to dust bath in the shavings. I have a chicken saddle that I can wash and put it on her. I have to wash it because it's on a different hen rate now.

How deep are the wounds? A closeup picture can be helpful. Vetericyn is something that you can use twice a day to disinfect the wound. You can also use plain normal saline as long as the wound is not infected (bad odor, pus, or increased swelling.) You will want to leave the wound open to air and apply the antibiotic ointment twice a day. Using clean old towels for bedding is good to keep any pine shavins out of her wound.

Later when her wounds have healed, then you can cover it with a saddle. Later when she is going back to the coop, keep her in a dog crate for them to get used to her again. You can put her back sooner, but just keep her separated.

Her sound seemed to be a bit deep. I have her put away for the night. I cleaned her up, first, but now she is in dog crate\kennel that has nothing but the tray on the bottom. I put some Neosporin on her back. The dog attacked her today, just before supper, so no infections are there and I have cleaned her back and trimed some feathers away from her back.
