Help! Dog Won't Stop Shedding

Not sure why you'd want the poor dog to KEEP the hair - thats really going against what nature intended.

I think the trick is to get it off FASTER and when it suits you - than for it to come of one hair at a time over a period of months!

A lot of shedding is due to a poor diet; increase the Omega 3 and 6 and the shedding will decrease as the coat becomes healthier.

Flaxseed and Salmon Oil are both great products for this, and great for their joints and heart.

I'm a groomer and see this all the time. Short haired dogs actually shed all the time. Long haired dogs only blow their coat 2 times a year. We have a ton of people who ask us to shave their labs, pugs, etc... to help with the shedding. It doesn't stop it, just makes the hair shorter when it comes out.

Try a rubber curry comb and rub it all over. Do it every day. It pulls a lot of the loose hair out.

If you are in Walmart or a Pharmacy store look for: Fish Oil (flaxseed and salmon oil can be hard to find outside of health food stores)

Your lab can have two capsules a day.

A rubber "hound mitt" is good for the short haired breeds and seems to grab the short fur better than combs or pinbrushes.

I have a furminator and it's an incredible brush. First time I used it, we left our deck covered with cream fluff from my yellow lab/husky rescue. So I started brushing him every day, and every day we had the same story on the deck. I gave up with brushing and gave him a lion cut (only left the hair on his head and tip of tail) == problem solved. Looked really funny, but it got him couch privileges again.
