HELP! Drake injured from fighting. =(

Pics
In case anyone was still wondering, my boy is doing great. He lost a lot of feathers on his head, but it looks like it finally stopped. It also looks like some new ones are starting to surface. The monster scab on his face is loosening up now and looks like it'll be falling off soon. There is a small scab on top of his head now that is attached to a feather. It looks pretty funny to see him bald on top with one lonely feather blowing around in the breeze. Most importantly, he is acting completely like his old self again. He's even mounting the girls again. I guess they don't mind that he's bald, lol. I am a little concerned about him getting sun burn on his head though. I'm guessing sunblock is out of the question. Not sure what to do about that.

Just try to keep him out of the sun as much as possible... yeah, I know, easier said than done... they will molt twice a year, but have never seen the short feathers go bald before new ones came in before... if the feathers come in brownish (like the females feathering) then he is eclipse molting... if they come in white, then it is feather loss from the injuries/trauma...

So glad he is doing better!!! :ya

Glad he is good again....
You can use sunblock on his head..Get the kind for babies that does not wash off with water...I think the brand here is called water babies?...My friend uses it on her White Horses nose all the time....Just try and keep him in the shade more....Best wishes....

Walmart makes a sunscreen for children/babies that is SPF-50 that goes on like a very light mist that my husband loves. He sprays it directly on his face. I use it also and it doesn't leave an oily cover or film on your skin.

So glad your drake is doing better. Poor baby could earn the name Kojak with his bald head.

The huge monster scab has finally fallen off of his face and it looks like all of his feathers are starting to come back in. The feather loss finally stopped and the fuzz coming back in on his head and face is white, so I guess that means that tissue damage caused the feather loss. His behavior is 100% back to normal. He really has made an amazing recovery! Thank you all for your advice and support. I really appreciate it!
I can't believe a duck is capable of doing so much damage to another. No more straight run ducks for me, only specially ordered females. I don't want to risk having more than 1 drake at a time ever again.
