We live in the desert and my poor chicken has these awful cracked feet. Our environment is a mix of dirt/sand with various desert weeds and they have regular outside grazing time whenever my husband or I is home. I’ve looked through pictures of scaly leg mites and bumbles and neither seem to be quite right as it’s on both feet and as you can see, the scales on top of her feet are not lifted.
She has received epsom salt baths, vetRX, feet oilings, and now they’ve been wrapped and she’s getting special quality time inside.
Can anyone shed some more insight on what the issue could be? Do I need to scrape off the scabs?

Our other girls (3 more pullets and 7 hens) have also been treated for scaly leg mites just in case but their feet (aside from being dirty) are normal looking.

It looks like pododermatitis, something is really irritating her feet. I think I would switch to a plain triple antibiotic ointment and apply a couple of times a day and then either wrap the foot like you would for bumblefoot, to protect it, or invest in some bird booties to protect her feet, see if you can clear it up that way.

Thank you so much!
I’ll look into common irritants and hopefully that’ll help me narrow down what is causing it.
