HELP! Duck egg!

Hi everyone, I’ve got a small dilemma, one duck egg on day 29, he’s got a pip and must have pipped overnight, the pip is on the lower half on the egg so I can’t see if he’s progressing! Also I don’t actually know how long he’s been pipped as I was sleeping! He’s an egg from the super market eggs, and I’ve got 2 other ducklings eagerly awaiting! When/ish should I help?!

Wait at least 24 hours. If he's externally pipped, he can breathe. By "lower half of the egg", do you mean malpositioned?

I prefer to err on the side of waiting longer rather than shorter. It's very easy to help too soon and kill the hatching bird. If he's made no more progress by tomorrow morning, that's when I would assist.

No he’s at the right end, but the crack is facing towards the ground if you get me?
im leaving alone I just worry the crack isn’t big enough for him to breath, il leave till the morning! Although I don’t actually know at what point in the night he pipped!

Update! I just saw part of the egg crack protrude up so I’m nearly certain he can breath haha, this is like torture!! I took a week off work for this and I’m back to work tomorrow I’ve had to employ my mum to egg watch if he’s not here by then!

Ahh sorry for the late reply! He hatched! Appropriate name of sainsbury! He’s hatch mates are on their way, I did have to assist a little but when I did he was out in 30 mins on his own just needed a little encouragement! Thanks everyone
