Crossing the Road
This is how it was for me when I assisted my quail chick. She'd passed away. I know how hard it is, wanting them to move, and peep.I pulled the shell away. There’s no movement at all. I tried to touch its bill and no reaction. I peeled back a little more the membrane was still wet. But no movement. No blood when I pulled it back but there was like this liquid coming out of the shell it was brownish yellow (is that old blood?). The area around his bill was rock hard I had to really pull it back with some give. Is he dead? I put oil on his membrane and put him back in the incubator. Would he respond to me touching his beak?
As long as there is no blood, and you cant see any yolk, go ahead and slowly peel away more shell and membrane, if you see movement then stop. But I do believe baby has passed away, I'm sorry
