Help! Duck not eating...

He hasn’t been eating the crumbles. That is why I am worried. I only give them one treat a day. Until a week ago when he stopped eating the crumbles.

Is the other drake being a bully? Keeping him away from food? They can get depressed if they are constantly being bullied?

If you have a food scale, you may want to start weighing him daily to see if he is losing any weight. Birds are good at masking symptoms. I would set him in his own pen for a short while, to see if its the other drake keeping him away from the feed. Mix the cheerios with a bit of duck feed, and see if he eats any. Slowly keep incorporating more duck feed to the cheerios.

I do keep them separated with a chicken wire fence in the summer. This keeps them from fighting, but still able to be next to each other. During the winter they are great together. I am going to try mixing the Cheerios and mealworms in his crumbles tomorrow. Fingers crossed! I will also weigh him.

Ok, so I tried mixing mealworms and Cheerios in his crumbles, and he didn’t eat anything today. Does anybody have any ideas on what might be wrong with him. He doesn’t seem sick but I know they can hide it.

Have you weighed him? I honestly don’t know, he isn’t being bullied by the other drake?

Well it green and watery, but he’s only eating a bit of lettuce, so I think that’s why it’s green. I did weigh him today, he’s 4.5 pds.

Probably is the reason. And you leave the feed out all the time? You never said is he with the other drake and is he being bullied?
