Woke up this morning and my mom showed me one of our ducklings she was gasping for air and is constantly going on her back. She cannot stand she cannot hold her head up and she won’t eat or drink. I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what she has, she was fine yesterday I don’t know what’s wrong. I don’t have the money to take her to the vet and I don’t want her to die please help

I had this same problem yesterday except with one of my baby turkeys. The problem for me was dehydration. Even though I had the chick along with some others in a small tub, it was having trouble finding it. I picked up the chick and dipped its beak in water barely to where it could get a couple of gulps of water. The chick then stopped breathing and got stiff. After I thought it died, it miraculously came back to life and sprang back up as if nothing had happened. Try giving it water!!

My guess is vitamen defiency or dehydration.

symptoms are wobbly head, when it trys to walk it ends up stumbling and constantly falling on it's back, the chick appears to be weak, loss of coordination, chicks trying to give up, won't eat or drink.

She’s just about 2 weeks old I think, they have a light that stays about 80-90 degrees. We have quails and they get the same chick food but also just switches to duck pellets thinking it might be a protein thing. As for water I’ve been trying to get her drink but she’ll take some sips and then stop and won’t take anything else

my advice is to keep trying to help the chick drink. As far as eating goes, I opened the beak of the chick and set one pellet at a time on the tongue. I waited for the chick to swallow and then continued the process a couple more times and then stopped just so it was enough to where the chick could get strength again. I did the same for water. As I was doing this, I held the chick in front of a heater to warm it up more. Then, I set the chick back in the tub and let it rest. In the morning, I found the chick, not dead, but bounced back up, eating, and even drinking along with the other chicks. If this doesn't work, I don't know what else to do. :(

Was able to get some honey water in her but no food. Should we put her down and out of misery? I don’t know what else to do

Are they able to escape the heat?
Is she pooping?
Get some B complex from tractor supply, 1ml orally over a piece of food (such as mashed bananas, if she doesn't have access to grit)
Or a larger dose in water, if she will drink it. You could also use flush effect niacin capsules, one capsule emptied and mixed into roughly a gallon should be fine. You can get these in health stores or online.

Start this immediately because you need to get some niacin into her ASAP.
Ensure she is not overheating. If she is opening her mouth and gasping, she may be too hot. Can we see photos of the brooder so we can know if she can escape the heat? They need to have a cool side.

She needs more than a bit of sugar, there are many other things we need to look into and treat her for without delay.
I would not put her down yet personally.
Start the treatment I explained in my post (above this one), and give her time. It may take a few days to see improvement if this is the cause.

Photos of her and the brooder would help massively, asap

Ive trying to give her foods and more water but she refuses to eat. There is a spot to escape from heat and the light turns off when to hot. I also currently have her close to me so she’s not with the other chicks as I don’t want anything to spread if it is contagious.
