I'm sorry for your loss. I don't know why things like this happen to our beloved babies. I had a chick today pass away from the same thing your duck did. Yesterday, I had the same problem but after helping and forcing it to eat and drink it bounced back up and is still alive and energetic today. Force-feeding can be harmful if you do it the incorrect way which is why some people don't recommend it, but it has saved some of my chicks in the past.
