Hello, my duckling was in his box where I usually keep him, this time I took the lid off because I was changing his food and water, I stood up and went to grab my water bottle which was a few steps away from the table. All of a sudden the duckling jumped out of the box wanting to follow me and landed on the floor on his side. I picked him up and I noticed that he was "limping", I don't know how to really describe it, when walking he walks perfectly fine with one leg but he just steps way faster with the other leg just to quickly switch to the good leg since the injured one hurts. Let me describe it better, he is walking the same way as when one of our legs is tired and hurts so we avoid putting pressure on it by stepping with it and then fastly switching to the other leg and stepping with that one. I have touched his leg and I don't feel any breaks, I've noticed that when I lift up his wing he lets out a noise, but when I feel the wing it's perfectly fine and not broken. I get no reactions when I touch his leg, only when I touch his wing. He just lets out one squeak when I gently lift up the wing, and when I continue to gently move it after the squeak to figure out where it hurts he just doesn't make any noise and goes back to sleep. I'm very worried, he just lies down and sleeps, when I give him food he grabs it but than gives up and doesn't swallow it, he just shakes it off. He isn't weak at all, I can't take him to a vet because covid is pretty bad here, I just want to know if this is deadly or not. Thank you for your time

How is the little one today? It sounds like he's bruised and may need a couple days to recover. THey are amazingly resilient and you'll have to be more careful in the future - but poo happens.
Give him extra love and cuddles, and some electrolytes and I bet the little on will bounce back within a week.

Thank you for asking and helping! He is doing the same as day one. He is walking the same, getting tired quickly and laying down. He is still healthy, he eats normally.

This is how he stands, his left leg hurts so he stands on his right leg to avoid putting pressure on the left one.

This is how he lays down, I have noticed that his left wing is way more lowered than the right wing. I just want to know if it will heal at all. He wants to walk and he does walk but gets tired super quickly, especially when he gets into water, after just a minute of swimming he gets tired and gets out of the water and just lays down on the ground, he gets so tired that he can't even follow me, he just lays down on the floor and cries. I checked to see if any bones were broken and everything is fine, I gently lifted up his wing and he doesn't squeak anymore, but he still walks the same which is worrying me. Let me try to film him walking and send it if I can

One thing you can do to help your duckling heal is giving him some warm water therapy. Letting your duckling have some swim time which means in the tub and the water needs to be warm, and with supervision, This will take pressure off the legs but help him keep his muscles working and build strength. Your links don't work for me. But with it falling to the floor it will just take time to heal. If you can get a video up here that would be great. Maybe we can advise on wrapping the wing for a few days.
you'll need to upload to Vimeo or Youtube then copy and paste here on BYC.

Hello! Thank you for the help, my duckling enjoys warm water therapy now! After the bath I have noticed that his right hip is swollen, I haven't noticed this before. Here I have a Google drive link, you just have to make an account to be able to see the content I think, it has a video of the duckling after the warm water therapy with his swollen hip, a video of him walking, and images of how he stands and how one of his wings is lowered. I have tried to tie up the wing to keep it in place but he just wiggles out of it. Here is the Google drive link: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1-2ZIuqOpUA421sdCF59Ep_IPl9YaEwci

I saw in the one video it was walking just not real well yet. So do you think that is an improvement? The swelling is worrisome though. Could be just from the fall or there could be something else going on. Is there a chance you could get a vet to examine him? You could try wrapping similar to how we wrap for angel wing, is he able to move the wing on his own flap at all? adjust it normally?
Here is info on wrapping for angel wing, https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/angel-wing-treatment.1252014/
the main thing is not to wrap too tight to cut off circulation. And to know if it's best to wrap or not to wrap. These are questions vets can answer.

Hello, today he is walking way better than yesterday. The leg that is swollen doesn't hurt him at all, he uses it way more often than the other leg which is hurt. I also gently touched the swollen leg to see if it hurts him and it doesn't, he doesn't squeak when I touch it at all. He flaps both of his wings, he also moves both of them on his own. He still squeaks when I gently lift the left wing. And today when I went to change his water I have noticed a bump on his face. The bump that they have below the eyes on both sides of the face, one of them is a bit bigger than the other. And also his legs started peeling a week ago, I don't know if this is normal or not. I can't get ahold of a vet sadly but I'm trying my best. I'll wrap his wing up and see how that goes, I won't wrap it too tight. Thank you for helping me!!!!!

Swelling anywhere makes me worry. So if you can post some pics of the leg and face that would help us alot in helping you.
I will get pictures tomorrow morning when the sun comes up since there's better lighting, my camera is really bad and you can't tell where it's swollen when I take a picture. I am so stressed he is acting really weird. His poop is brown and watery. His box where he sleeps, I change everything and clean everything every 2 hours, and all of a sudden it started to smell. It hasn't smelled before. He also wakes up mid sleep and runs around the cage squeaking frightened, it scares me so much because I thought that he had a heart attack or something. I just put him down on the ground and he can barely walk anymore
