Help duckling food isssue

That sounds right, just double-check the numbers. Anyway, I would give them some of that, maybe even watered down a little, for a day or two in addition to the crushed grower pellets.

Thinking about it, do you have access to the labels - sometimes they are published online - so you can compare nutrient values between the grower and starter? Then you can see if my concern about nutrients is really a concern or not. Some say the main difference between them is just the form - crumbles as opposed to pellets. But there's a difference in protein %, too, right?

I know there is a difference in Protein... the starter mix is like 28& protein or 21%. So this maint. is much lower in protein.

I found my notes on vitamins and electrolytes and it said 1/2 teasp. per gallon of water, but I went with 1/4 teasp... because it also said to be careful.

I add a sprinkling of cat kibble sometimes. I was surprised, actually, that the kibble is only 30% protein. Anyway, you can grind that up as well and add it to increase the protein %. Some folks think the worries about protein are unfounded, but a number of us follow the guidelines in Storey's Guide about it.

What are the tags stats? i have a tag handy from my flock raiser ..

18% protein

3% fat

5 % fiber

All my ducks this year and last(including chickens lol) started off on this... it is a crumble though.

Tia, GQ, I need to ring off for the night. I think I have offered the ideas I can come up with. Enjoy those babies, Tia, and thanks, GQ, for all your contributions to the Duck Forum.

Hugs, both.

I gave them duck and goose maintenance with a little dry cat food added, ground up in a coffee grinder plus put some vitamins and electrolytes in their water. They were sure happy to get some food. Ate like little piggies and then piled up and took a long nap. I finally got the food today. Don't know what happened they just made a mistake twice and shipped me the wrong food. They express mailed a bag of food yesterday to make up for it and it got here today. They paid 116. for shipping. They made a mistake but were willing to pay to make it up to me. You don't see that much anymore. They also sent me 25 dollars in gift certificates.

Thanks for all of your help. I didn't know what to do and was afraid to do the wrong thing.
