Do you have a picture of the wound?
The Theracyn you have would be fine, or you could also simply flush it with saline daily, or apply an antibacterial ointment or cream daily to the wound.
These events most often will cause a great degree of shock and stress to the duckling which can result in fluid, and electrolyte deficits. To help prevent, and combat these from occurring, consider offering the bird a poultry vitamin/electrolyte daily.
Weighing the duckling daily would be a good idea to determine she/he is making daily weight gains.
If the duckling is losing weight or is acting lethargic we would want to be more aggressive with treatment and consider antibiotics. Hopefully, that will turn out not be the case.
Only if they are pecking the wound. If they aren't just leave her be. She'll be happier with her buddies!should i separate her from the rest of the babies?
okay thank you, they don’t seem to be pecking at it. i figured she’d be better off with them because if i take her away for even a few minutes to treat her and then give her some love, they freak out and peep peep peep for her until i put her back with them.Only if they are pecking the wound. If they aren't just leave her be. She'll be happier with her buddies!
You can use a guaze pad over the wound with a piece of Vet Wrap (or other bandage) around her neck to keep the guaze in place. Don't use any adhesive bandage, that will rip her down feathers out when you pull it off.is there a way i can cover the wound so she doesn’t peck at it so it doesn’t open or get infected or anything?
