HELP!!!!! Duckling in distress!

One more quick tip, I have never been able to get my ducks to fully process being on the turner EXCEPT one way, and that is I lay them down ON the turner. I actually tape them to the turner so they don't fall off.

hand turning is the best way, you did GREAT there.. LOL

I just feel awful. I also have a runt baby. It hatched on it's own today, but it's WAY smaller than all the rest and gets weak easily. I'm feeding it grow gel + B to make sure it get s the nutrients it needs. His name is Sampson. He and Deliliah hatched today. Geez, I 'm crying like a baby!

there's NO REASON TO CRY, you have FIVE, FIVE Perfectly Hatched out BABIEs, That's amazing Imagine Lossing 11,

I had hatched out a runt, let me tell you he's outside with his brothers and sister and he's ALREADY the same size as them. LOL

They grow SOOOO FAST, also avoid swimming lessons for one week, this gives them enough time to build up there own oils to stay afloat, they don't have a mommy to put her oils on them so you have to give them time to produce there own..

So far your doing very good. Are these eggs from your own ducks or are they shipped??

These are eggs given to me from another BYC fan in Michigan. She gave me 10 Rouen/Runner eggs. One had a crack and died after 1 week. I received it like that, so I don't take the blame. I also don't blame her, eggs get cracks, it's life. 2 more I threw away last week as they started turning dark colors and began to smell. That's when I almost threw Nemo away as well because of all that clear fluid and clots I saw. But, I saw movement. Now I have to call her and tell her how I have failed.

I'm so upset and feel so guilty!

FAILED? how is it a failed?? technically you started out with 10 correct, you lost 4 so your hatching rate is at 60% and they had some traveling involved right? Didn't you pick them up or have to pick them up. So your at 60% with traveling eggs. WOW. how's that a FAILED? you already got 50% out.

How is the last one? what's he doing?

Thank you. She lives about 40 minutes from me. I haven't told her yet, but I will. The last one never externally pipped, so I made an air hole. Just after I tried to save Nemo and he died. I said I wouldn't give up on this last one. I opened the shell a little just in the air cell area. I saw a ton of veins when I wettened the membrane, so I put it right back and didn't touch it again. Now it's sitting in the bator, and chirping and breathing fine. It's just not ready yet.

Candle the smaller end of the shell let me know if there's any empty space.

Sorry guys I'm in another time zone!
YES you can save an upside downer. Wist who is pictured in my avatar was an upside downer. My first ever hatch and I got him through. I rushed his sister though and I'll never know if I killed her or if she would never have made it anyway. Last years hatch my Abbey external pipped underside. I thought it was a dead egg ( it had dark spots) I literally had it in my hand to toss it when I noticed the underside pip. With minimal assistance he was a fine if slow to start duck.
Don't beat yourself up honey. Cry, blame yourself a little if you have to but every mistake we make means one we will never make again.
