Help! Duckling with terribly deformed beak dumped in my yard!! *PICS*

The deformity reminds me of bilateral cleft lip and/or palette as seen in humans. I believe it to be a congenital anomaly which will not "regrow". Since the duck has grown and thrived after all he's been through, why not give him a chance. I think he will be fine and possibly one of your best babies.

lol, Howard?? I am hoping it's a girl but it's too soon to tell. Maybe I should start a new "name my duck" thread.

My 6 year old thinks we should name it Angel since it is a miracle it's still alive.

I love all of the names!! We might wait and see if it's a boy or girl before we decide on anything.

When I found this little guy this morning my heart sank and my first thought was that there's no way he could live like this. But after posting on here and reading all of the responses I feel very optimistic that he will be just fine. Without you guys I would have been a wreck wondering what to do. I don't want him to suffer, but I also don't want to kill an animal if it has a chance of living a good life. He will probably end up being a very friendly duck, he'll get lots of love from me and the kids. I just want to hold him and not let him go!

That would be a great name but it's already taken, we rescued a stray cat and named her Lucky.
