Hi yall, I am new to the group and I just had my second clutch of duck eggs start hatching. I haven't had any problems with hatching so far but tonight after I checked on one of the eggs I noticed there was this white fuzz inside the egg but the duckling looks okay to me. I'm hoping this isn't mold but if it is what do I do?

@MGG Did you try and assist the hatch, why is it open? What day id it on. I am certainly not an expert, in fact I have never hated before, and I only know what I know form having plenty of broodies, and what I've learned from here. Can you see the baby moving at all. You should change your title, to something like, "help with white fuzz inside egg!" or "What is going on with this hatching egg!"

It is day 34 and he started pipping a day ago, I did assist with the hard shell membrane but he did the rest. And yes, he is moving a lot! Than you I will definitely change that!

Okay, are these Muscovy duck eggs? Did he chip that big hole in the egg, or you. You just want to make sure you didn't assist to early. I really can help much, here I hardly know anything about assisting, and incubating eggs in general. But I can help some. Make sure he stays moist, by misting him from time to time, that is all I can help with. I wish I could help more. Avery

Thank you so much for the help, he has good moisture and looks to be breathing fine. I helped with the outside shell but yes he opened the part that I was holding with tweezers.
