So my ducklings are 4-5 weeks old and I keep them in a 4x3x3 box with a door open side and a too hatch on it during the day it was 40 or 108f today and when I came home tonight from from work I noticed their water was empty they had flipped it and were cover in cakes on poo so I took them out and put them in the kiddie pool to clean themselves it was full of water already so it was warm it didn't take long and the water was brown so I put the hose in to clean it out and the ducks stopped moving and started to sink in about 10 mins and are now just laying their kinda shaking not moving or making noise! Did the temp change shock them into have a stroke?

Probably not temperature change but just too hot. Ducks can get 'heat stroke' just like people... It isn't really a stroke, it is just called that. More correct name would be hyperthermia.

Glad to hear they are better!! :)

Perhaps for the future, a second, flip-froof waterer?

Just insurance against them being overheated and without water again?

Best of luck with them!

Dan
