Help ducks do not want to go outside without me!

Welcome to BYC! I raise and breed ducks, so if you have any questions regarding them I may be able to help :) Can you post some pictures of your ducks? I'm sure we would love to see them!
Hello! I uploaded a picture, I hope it worked. This was when they were a little younger. Maybe you can help me figure out what kind of ducks they are.

Sounds like you trained your duck to be used to you and now you've got to train it to get used to being without you.

First I would stop rewarding the quacking by opening the door and giving them what they want, Coming back in the house with you, this is just reinforcing the behavior you are trying to break. Tough love and ignoring them is the way forward.
I figured tough love was the key. I feel bad though. I do not want them to be sad. It is funny how as soon as I open the door, they run to me.

Welcome to BYC!
:yesss: We are glad you joined our flock!
A clear large bin doesn't sound like it is very big. Have you a coop ready for them yet?

We have the wood for a coop, we haven’t built it as yet. Thanks for the videos. The bin is getting too small for them as they are approaching becoming full adults. That is why I started practicing leaving them outside alone. I would usually hang out with them outside. I feel bad because they call for me. They also roam the yard looking for me. Yesterday, I peeked through the window and caught them relaxing in their pool but as soon as I spoke, they got out and quacked for me. I was in my house and it was as if they heard my voice.

Make sure they have safe places out there it can really be scary outside when young and being away from mama. Safe places like being able to hide under bushes or a picnic table some where they will feel safe and secure. They sure are pretty.

:welcome
