Hello I got 2 runner ducks brooding on chicken and duck eggs. Ive been pulling new eggs I find so I don’t get more incubating but my daughter just found a chick that just hatched and my question is should I bring them in the house? I got a heat lamp in there but both ducks are still laying on more eggs. I just don’t want them to get to cold. Gonna be 70s all week and 50 at night. And if there ok in the temperatures givin will my other3 hens or rooster try and kill em? thanks in advance for info

I'd remove any chicks that hatch and raise them in a brooder. Their hatching may cause the ducks to leave the nest and stop incubating. Also in my experience chicks hatched by ducks tend to get stepped on and soaked by duck hens.
Thanks I will do that, if they hatch ducklings should I leave them with them or take out?

When do you expect the ducklings to hatch? Ducklings take 28 days (Muscovies 35)and chicks 21 days so to hatch at the same time, chicks should be started a week later than Mallard derived ducks.
If they were started at the same time, or or you expect the ducklings to not hatch soon for another reason brood the chicks separately.

I have heard that that mama chicken hens getting mad at ducklings for splashing is not harmful, but mama ducks teaching chicks to swim can be deadly.

What type of water does the mother have access to? I have had a Muscovy raise ducklings, but she was not bringing them to deep water.
We brought Mom a supervised bucket for head dunking.

We expect more to hatch any day now, first chick hatched today and the ducks have access to a small kiddie pool and a bigger pool

As long as all duck eggs were set at the same time, leave them with the mothers when they hatch. If not set at the same time, I would remove them as they hatch as fowl are biologically programmed to leave the nest around 36 hours after the first chick/duckling hatches. This way the young are able to access feed and water.

Ok so I removed the chick and just wait for others then?

Got a duckling, if I pull them all out as they continue to hatch will I be able to put em back after they all hatch?
