I know I'm right about the Dominiques, but which are the Cuckoo Marans and which are the Barred Plymouth Rocks? They are just hatchery stock, so I know they are not good quality, but they are lovely to have none the less. Thanks!

Breed #1

Pullet and cockerel @ 17 weeks

Another pullet @ 15 weeks (at 21 weeks she started laying light brown eggs)

Just for the record here's what I've been calling my Dominiques (these were easy to tell)

Breed #3

I'm now pretty sure that Breed #1 are Marans and Breed #2 are Plymouth Rocks, cuckoo and barred patterning respectively. (I had them inverted before, for some reason). What on earth possessed me to get three barred breeds?

Can you confirm this?

bared rock have yelow legs marans have white/pink legs domers should have rosse combs and gray legs did not see any domers in your pics #1 looks like marans if they have a singal comb and white legs (should be feathered) they are marans if they have singal comb and yelow legs they are rocks

As I stated, they are hatchery stock, and do not conform to the standards, let alone the French standards.

The last pic is the Dominique, with the obvious rose comb.

I took a few more pictures that show the leg coloring better. They are now 23 weeks.

Thanks for the confirmation!

I'm excited, before I thought I had a BR pair. I'm happy to find that I have a Marans pair. Can't wait to hatch more dark egg layers and maybe cross breed with the EE's for some Olive Eggers
