HELP!! Egg broken inside my hen!!

The picture looks like a shell-less egg with a tail. It could be due to stress, an immature shell gland or a damaged shell gland, or a past bout of infectious bronchitis virus. The picture below shows a shelled egg with a tail. Calcium supplements may help. Here is some reading about abnormal eggs:

How'd it go at the vet?

Thank you for checking back. The vet said that she contracted some corona virus that affects causes kidney concentrate. The virus causes bacteria infection that causes the abnormal egg. He prescribed antibiotics and said she would recover. I fed her the pill and we will how it goes tomorrow. She still looks very droopy.

Thank you very much. This is very helpful. I’ll add calcium supplements to her diet once she recovers.:)

I'm glad to hear she'll feel better soon. You can give her crushed oyster shells for calcium. They sell it by the chicken grit and feed. Or just offer her crushed eggs shells when you cook eggs. Free choice, not mixed in to feed.

For sure. I have oyster shells, I will crush them and feed it to her. :)

Interesting!
Did he give you the name of the virus? How did he test for it - send in bloodwork, a swab, etc.?
What antibiotic did he prescribe?

He sticked his finger into her butt and found some stuff that he called 'concentrate'. He probably mentioned the name of the disease but I forgot. He said it is pretty common in birds. He did not do bloodwork or lab. Prescribed Tylosin tabs for 7 days, I have no idea what that is. My chicken is not better off yet today, hopefully she will feel better tomorrow.
