HELP EGGS DON'T LOOK RIGHT!

I ordered 9 silkie bantam eggs from My Pet Chicken. When they arrived I did what all the forums said sat them pointy side down in the auto egg turner for 12 hours at room temp. then I started incubating. At day 8 I candled them and saw next to nothing, I thought i just wasn't doing it right. I watched videos on how to candle eggs and read threads on it to. Then i looked at pictures of candled eggs and I realized all my eggs look like day 1 eggs I have one with a big violet colored line i think its the vein maybe not. But is there anything I should know or be doing about this?

What day are you at? At day 8 you should have seen clear veining. Day 10 you should see lots of veins and a wiggling blob. As you get closer to the end, things are harder to see. Most of the egg should be dark (full of chick) and the air cell should be large. Sometimes there are some visible veins near the air cell.

If you're close to day 21 and all you see are veins, your eggs did not develop. I'm not sure if MPC offers any kind of guarantee with their hatching eggs (likely not, most breeders don't either), but I'd at least contact them and tell them what's up with your eggs. You'll have MUCH better luck if you find yourself a breeder close by. And much nicer looking birds too

I'm not sure where you're located, but if you were/are close to me I'd GIVE you some Silkie eggs. Sorry about the bum hatch. Shipped eggs are a HUGE gamble, better luck next time.

Thanks! very helpful Im located in middle Tennesse

I have written MPC about this and sent pics I asked if i could get some day old chicks close to my hatch date as it turns out 2 eggs look very well developed we are at day 13 and its mostly dark with and air pocket.

Do you know any breeders in Middle Tennessee?

You probably paid way to much for them there eggs. check this thread. It is a 24 hr auction and there are usually silkies on there go to the last page and up to 24 hours pm me if you need more help

I believe HatTrick is in TN. There are a few others if I'm remembering correctly, but I'm drawing a blank right now.
