NoI'm not sure what happened but it was almost done unzipping, and was already trying to stretch out its legs, rolling everywhere when it stopping and didn't move again. After I was sure it was dead I peeled off some of the shell, and I didn't get a good look but I think a piece of the shell may have stabbed it. That has happened before to an Orpington chick once, except she survived the wound.
well that is great news.On the bright side, I did go back outside to look at the other eggs and noticed one was pipping too!! The chick hatched and its a beautiful healthy buff Cochin, despite sitting outside unattended for an hour. It was about 80-85 degrees today.
