Help end a "discussion" :)

My Production White Leghorns laid 2 a day each in the summer. I know it was them b/c I had 3 birds in my "standard" pen, 2 leghorns, and 1 crevecoeur, and her eggs are very oval-like. But I got 5 eggs a day from them, sometimes 4 when I was missing a Crev egg. I had them on lay pellets, they just were laying-machines, or they were happy I rescued them from the lake/dog park.

LOL. This is where I failed in english class and need to specify the subject in the sentence and then re specify the new subject if talking about two different subjects. hahaha. :lol:They as in chickens! Boy I think any human female would HATE to have a 24-36 cycle. Good thing as humans we can't store sperm like chickens either...

Like SloCrevs, some of my hens lay 2 a day, but not all the time. I have 3 hens, mixed colored egg layers, separate, and I got an average of 4 eggs a day most of last week.

I've had the same experience, now and then in the past, with some of my other breeds, especially my Buff Orpingtons, Black Australorps and Barred Rocks. But, as they were together, I never knew who was laying the extra eggs, just that the number of eggs didn't match the number of hens!
