HELP--EYE Injury in Hen

My Hen was in a fight with my rooster, she has a 4 week old chick. I'm thinking he was trying to breed her and she fought him off or just protecting her chick. I only heard the fight, didn't witness it. Her eye is half swollen shut and she won't let me pick her up, she protects her Chick. What can I put on it and how to do I pick her up. Wait till night when they are calmer or? I don't want to put neosporin on it, since it's her eye? Also, after this happened my other hen try's to fight with her too now. They have always been best of friends.

I have used plain neosporin in my chicken's eye before with no bad results. But you can use Terramycin eye ointment or Vetericyn eye gel in her eye twice a day. Picking her up off the roost or where she sleeps at night to quickly apply the ointment. A headlamp or flashlight may be handy, and in case of pus or crust in the eye, you can clean it out with saline. Let us know how she gets along.
