Yesterday our broodies chicks started to hatch and I peaked under her bc I saw ants (never a good sign) and sure enough one was deceased and another egg had bit of blood at pip it looked like, well later on checked and the egg I'm telling you had blood and filled with stuff ..not moving and hub through it in bag hanging there bc we didn't want ants to get to others overnight...

NOW just went out and bag was rocking and chick was PEEPING. OMG :(

WTW? I didn't know WHAT to do! I quickly tapped it and sure enough peeping but I'm sure there is something going on bc there is still blood Isee, not as much but put it under mom bc chicks leg was cold and she pushed it under her? GAH,

Now I'm VERY worried about infection to other hatchlings trying to come out but WTFreak was I supposed to do!!!!!

Did I ruin any others by introducing infection? Idk, or is that possible,,,I feel so bad for the baby, But if it makes it Miracle is not being sold,,,he or she will stay with us. Holy moly...that is insane..I just don't know if I did the right thing or not but the egg is still kinda a mess so it probably will pass but maybe if it warms under her it'll have better chance...or nature will just take its course! WAH Every hatch something crazy happens, I swear.

I would keep a watchful eye and keep checking .. Sometimes even a good mom will toss out a chick that can be saved if she thinks something is wrong . I had one that hatched in a large pile of poop it was on her face and beak and eye wasn't moving much .. I happened to be out late to see on a cold evening this chick struggling for air and a cold mess. I grabbed it fast brought it in wiped it clear and held it under a heat lamp.. sure enough she started chirping more as she warmed up.. still wet I put her in an incubator that was already going. left her over night .. in the early AM I woke to a beautiful healthy chick.. I took it out and slipped it to the hen who took her right back in .. My point being if it acts really weak she might discard it and it might simply need warmth and rest. So I would keep an eye on momma..

Was there something in the bag with the chick when your husband put the egg in there that makes you think there may be infection to pass on to the other chicks? I would think the other chicks should be ok if Miracle was just a little bloody. Is Miracle healthy, as far as you can tell, otherwise? It sounds like things will be just fine but maybe someone with more expertise could give you their feedback! Good Luck! My fingers are crossed for Miracle and the other chicks to be healthy!

Well there was another chick that didn't make it, clearly stiff.at the bottom but the egg that had miracle in it was not touching that chick..it was wrapped separate, I just didn't know bc of all the whatever that was around miracle egg, blood, idk what it is..miracle is actually still in the egg mostly? :/ I pulled back a peice of she'll but didn't want to go any further bc I wanted to see if she would warm it and the determined chick do it herself you know?

I don't know what's going to happen but I will definetly keep watch of momma...:( she clearly pushed it way back under her, I'll go see if she's still content on them...tks for yalls advice!
