Did it come from your own birds? If not it's illegal to take it, hatch it, and own the resulting duckling. I just want you to be aware, because if you're caught with it you could face fines and other repercussions.

This is probably a really stupid question, but are you even sure the duck egg is fertile? I mean, do you have the drake and know they've bred? I'm assuming from the panic in your tone that this is the first egg your duck has laid. Not trying to be rude, but hate to see you try to rig an incubator if there's no point, and rotten eggs that explode stink like....well, they stink.

thanks i saw them earlier today and i am pretty sure they have mated this is not her first egg. and do not worry you are not being rude at all i do not even know for sure if this will work i just thought it would be fun to try.

Well, in that case do you have a heating pad? Check out this thread. It was done with chicken eggs, but if you took the requirements for duck incubation into account it might be worth a shot.

interesting idea thanks for the link. i have updated my incubator but not much. it has a pretty constant temperature now though

We dont know what happened it just didnt make it, but thats ok we moved on.
