SO, my mother figured it would be a good idea to get chickens without having coops, runs, boxes before hand so were fighting to keep up.
we have 16 chicks, 2 austrolopes, 6 golden sexlinks, 2 blues, and i dont know what the other 2 are i think they are LIR and some black with brown tipped breed.
i put the goldens out today for the first time, its a cool 60 degrees ish today and have noticed that 2 of them have started sneezing heavily. i dont see any constant discharge from the nostrils and all seem healthy aside from the sneezing.
my concern is they have a URI or the beginnings of one. 3 of the goldens have clicking when they breathe. not heavy and doesnt seem to be too labored. they seem to be extremely happy to be out of the trough we have been holding them in. the 3 in question have been sneezing a lot but the substance they are sneezing is clear and seems to be more water like then a mucous.
i smell no discerning smells from the (for lack of better word spit) and doesnt have a thick texture or consistency that i can tell.
should i administer duramycin 10 just to be on the safe side VIA watering dishes to all chickens for a while as a precautionary measure and throw our layers eggs out for the duration and 2 weeks after discontinuing treatments.
800mg per gallon is what i have read on here as a initial dose to start then back the dosing off a week in and let them recoop on theyre own? am i being a worry wart and the cooler temps just have them sneezing like we people do and the nose is just a biproduct of the cooler temps outside.
i have become attached to 2 of the sexlinks and the 2 blues we have and would hate to loose them due to some stupid illness.
thanks in advance
