I have some Cornish Rocks and I found a handy chart saying exactly how much weight they should gain and how much they should eat in a day. Are there similar guidelines for Broad Breasted Turkeys? Should I leave feed out 24/7 or feed them 12 hours a day like the cornish rocks? Or is there a certain amount I should feed them per day?? I picked them up today, they're only a day old and are sooo cute!!

Depends on how soon you want to slaughter them. If a 4 months, then leave them on 28% feed 24/7 under a light. Without a light on 24/7 they will only eat in daylight. Your poults in the brooder have a light and should have free choice food.

Are they 4-H project birds? If so, I say keep the light on more than not...i.e. I don't want my birds overweight, so I turn the light off twice at night, but only in 3 hour intervals so the birds do not completely empty their digestive tract, so they get 6 hours of rest, but are constantly processing food. Our fair board is not restrictive on weight...only rule basically is that they have to be able to walk into the ring on their own power...so we have shown birds in the past up to 45# Not sure what someone would do with a bird that big, but he was a sight to behold...lol

We are trying the Purina Honor Show Chow this year...it's about $2 more a bag, but the 30% protiene seems to be working as they are growing by leaps and bounds...only draw back is the richer feed is causing black tar like stools pretty often...good luck cleaning that stuff up...
