HELP FEELS LIKE SHE SWALLOWED A WATERBALLOON

thanks everyone for your input. although the outcome is not a good one. around seven i went to check on her and she was expired. i gave her a proper burial. of course i lost my cool finishing the job and started bawling. i'm ok now, but would still kinda like to know what happened, to avoid anything like this in the future. again, thanks

Oh I so wish I had seen this posting last night, but I logged off about 8 PM. It sounds lime my recent incident with a blocked crop. The symptoms were all the same, I followed the recommendations from the board for treating sour/impacted crop. She vomited several times over 3 days, but every time she would eat or drink the crop would become enlarged.

It had shrunk too the point where I put her back in with the girls but when I returned home in the afternoon her crop was now pushing up between her collar bone and neck. It was almost the size of a tennis ball!

She was struggling to breath - so with the help of my mother we used an alcohol pad to sterilize the area, then placed a small 1" incision in the front of the crop and removed 2/3 c of polenta-like material, grass, feathers and to our surprise a cigarette filter. The opening was irrigated with the help of the sink hose, dried and packed with antibiotic ointment. Once we were sure the crop was clear we put a few sutures in. It certainly helped that my mother is a retired ER nurse.

It has been two days since the surgery and she is back with the girls. I am hoping she will recover fully.

I am so sorry that I didn't have the batline to help you, but hopefully someone will be able to learn from both of our experiences.
