help! female or male?

Most of the males start getting 2 or 3 longer hairs at 5 or 6 months on their neck.. They are easily seen. Not wiry but they look like it at first. Silkies are almost impossible to sex unless you do the vent test and that's not exact.

S:th:idunnoorry. I've been watching the silkie thred also and got confused. I've never raised orpingtons. What I miss most since I got old is my mind.

Okay so does this only apply to Silkies or is it true for Orpingtons as well? Thanks for the help!

Nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks anyway!

Orpingtons start laying at 24 weeks (Pretty much 6 months). I have never had this breed before but the laying time always depends on the hen.

She could still wait another month or start laying in two days. Has she been making the egg song or any other laying behaviour?
