Help! Flock pecked hens flesh down to bone

How is your hen doing? Hydrogen peroxide should be avoided. If that is all one has, it could be used once, and then saline, chlorhexidene, or a wound spray such as Vetericyn, Microsyn, etc should be used. Triple antibiotic/neosporin ointment is good to put on the wound after the spray, once it has dried.

I’ve been doing the hydrogen peroxide, then a thick coat of original neosporin and vetericyn to top it of daily. Now with the feedback I’ve received about the hydrogen peroxide I will swap it for a sailne solution. I also checked my local feed store for some of the antibiotics mentioned but had no luck. I will see what they have at a different location next time I go. For now I have some coming in online. She has been doing good she does not seem all that happy being away from her flock with all of this cold weather coming in but she still has appetite. Not sure what I will do with her long term because of how the flock treats her. There was a raccoon attack in our old coop and before I found out they had been pecking at the bodies left. Probably where they got that habit…

It's actually not bacteria dying that causes the foaming, it's cells exploding. This is from USA Today, 2/24/22, Dr. Michael Daignault:

While you may think you are thoroughly cleaning your wound, you are causing corrosive tissue damage, significantly impairing the healing process, and irreversibly worsen the scarring process. Severe toxicity from skin application could include inflammation and blistering.
Wow I did not know that. Thank you for sharing! I will stop doing the hydrogen peroxide on her now.
