My 2 year old Cream Legbar (Mina) has always had poopy butt issues. Truly since she was a pullet. I bathe her, I trim her feathers, I de worm her. Nothing helps. She eats, drinks, and acts fine. The other girls have dry, clean butt feathers. I have seen Mina poop watery poops and normal poops- I’ve checked and never seen a worm. This has been going on her entire life. She lays beautiful eggs almost daily and acts healthy. She is on layer feed and free ranges for about 4 hours every other day. When I wash her butt her poor skin is so red. She must have discomfort. The others eat the same food and free range in the same areas.
Please help!

I feel like a broken record. LOL. She needs a barrier cream to get that area to cleared up. Bag Balm. It's kinda greasy doesn't smell great but it works. You can buy it on line. bag balm.com Try it use a tongue depressor to scoop it up out of the can so as not to contaminate it. A little bit goes a long ways. Good luck. Is she sleeping on the roost?

Ok, thank you. I can put that on her to help with her discomfort, but how do I stop the diarrhea?
Yes, she always roosts. She is 3rd in rank of 6 so she generally sleeps where she pleases.

She should be on a roost so she is not irritating that butt. On a roost she would primarily sleep on her feet.

Don't know what to tell you about diarrhea. My birds love blueberries and then I noticed diarrhea. I don't feed them anymore. Might try and elimination diet. Feed her only fresh water and chicken feed. NO treats for awhile then gradually add one of the treats you used to feed. One at a time for a few times. Then rest and try another treat. When the diarrhea has come back you'll know what causes it. Might take a while.

I have one that does that. acts healthy, eats and drinks normal, but always has a yucky butt.
I have tried many things nothing seemed to work. been that way since pullet hood.
I don't have any advice for you but if you do manage to solve the issue please let me know.
thanks!

@cooingdove maybe our girls just have a chronic sensitive tummy problem? I suppose there are lots of people who do. What breed is yours? Also a cream Legbar? Maybe they have just been GMO-ed so strongly for the autosexing and blue eggs that Dr. Punnet (their inventor) just ignored the tummy problem side effects? I suppose this has no scientific basis from my single hen sample 🤣 I would need tummy reports from like 10,000 of them...
