I was out with my dogs when I noticed one of them sniffing at a patch of weeds. When I looked in I found about 13 duck eggs (i know they are duck because we live by a water collection marsh thing) 7 of them were not hatched. I picked them up and brought them inside. Maybe I should have left them, but I figured the mom had abandoned them since she was no where in sight. I also didn't want them to get stepped on and they were cold which means the mom hadn't been on them recently. I have set them up in a box full of towels with a heating mat underneath set at 98. I have never hatched before and have been reading trying to find out if these are even still alive. It is late and they were cold when I picked them up. I tried candling and from what I can tell they are in the last few days of their incubation. They are dark eggs and at least 6 of them have a small light space and a very dark space consuming most of the egg. Any tips, advice, or insight would be great! It would be cool to hatch them :) Also, this may be stupid question, but since I am new at all this...When I candle them 2 eggs don't move inside when i rotate them while the other 5 look very runny inside. What does that mean?

Since the eggs were cold, it is likely that they are dead. But it doesn't hurt to try! 98 degrees is a little cool (99-100 is better), but they should still hatch. The eggs that appear runny probably aren't alive, as most of the time, chicks/ducklings are solid, moving masses in the egg. If I were you, I would incubate for a week or so longer, and then candle again. Posting some photos of the candling might help, too.
