Help! Frostbite on hens comb?

Well I tried to put petroleum jelly on one of my girls combs and they didn't really like that. But one of my hens is acting a little strange her breast is leaned over all the way to the ground and she is getting pecked at!

Lol- my girls don't like it either! I try to do it when they are still a little sleepy :) Try removing and isolating your girl that is getting picked at for a few days. It sounds like she is at the bottom of the pecking order and by removing her for a bit while she is having problem may help so they can't make her situation any worse. As for her leaning, observe her by herself for a bit once removed and if things get worse call your vet.

Honestly? It doesn't look bad at all- she doesn't look like she has frostbite, just the typical coloration of a healthy hen's comb in my opinion. Put some vaseline on it to be sure and she should be good to go. Is this the hen that is leaning over?

This is what she looks like and she backs up whenever the other girls are near. She is at the bottom of the pecking order for sure! If you can see, the other girls have pecked her neck bare.

poor thing- try isolating her until she is better. Also, sometimes when you remove the bully too that helps reorder the pecking order. But unfortunately a pecking order is necessary in the flock.
